Walking the Way to Health Scheme in Basingstoke

Enjoy your local parks and open spaces, and improve your fitness, by joining the Walking for Health Scheme in Basingstoke. Walks are led by volunteer leaders, vary each week and are non competitive. Everybody is welcome and all walks are free of charge. For all walks please wear clothes and shoes suitable for the weather, bring a drink of water and arrive 15 minutes early for registration. Please feel free to just turn up on the day and make yourself known to the walk leader (in the fluorescent yellow tabard) the first time you come along. All information about the local scheme and the programme of walks is available on our new 'Walking the Way to Health in Basingstoke' website: www.basingstokehealthwalks.org

The Brenda Parker Way

In 2011 our Ramblers group completed setting up the Brenda Parker Way in memory of our group's founder and Ramblers campaigner for walkers in Hampshire. This is a 78 mile walk across north Hampshire between Aldershot and Andover and all the details can be found at www.brendaparkerway.hampshire.org.uk

Click here for full list of this Season’s Walks for the North Hampshire Down Ramblers Association.

All the walks leaders are volunteers. They are not formally trained to lead walks or to administer first-aid.  They do not carry first-aid kits.  They may refuse to allow someone to join a walk if, in their opinion, the person concerned does not appear suitably equipped or capable of completing the type of walk involved.

All sporting and leisure activities have inherent hazards associated with them and rambling is no exception.  In the spite of the safety of members always being the paramount concern, accidents will occasionally occur.  It is important therefore that when entering into the activity each member appreciates that they have responsibility to identify the hazards associated with the activity and take all reasonable steps to eliminate or minimise the potential for an accident to arise.

Dogs must be properly supervised, and, where necessary, kept on a lead.  Owners are entirely responsible for their dogs.
